Burberry

Thomas Burberry founded Burberry in Basingstoke at just 21, based on the idea that clothing should be designed to protect against the conditions of the British climate. Throughout the 1900s, the company continued to work for the British government with uniforms for the army and for exploration expeditions.

Burberry has always been synonymous with innovation, adventure and pioneering spirit in the world of luxury: each product of the brand is perfectly recognizable thanks to the successful combination of British spirit and an eye to the future.

It was in 1920 that the distinctive element of the collections appeared: the iconic check. One of Burberry's best known and most representative graphic motifs, created in 1920 by reworking the traditional tartan design of Scottish kilts.

Under the guidance of creative director Riccardo Tisci, a new hallmark was introduced: the Burberry Icon Stripe. A graphic evolution that starts from the single detail of a line, from which it takes the name of "icon stripe" and embellishes temples, fronts and bridges in sun and optical frames for both men and women.
